Her acclaimed performance as the character Alexandra "Alex" King on The Descendants led to her taking on other characters easily. Shailene has been able to get her name in the Hollywood world early on during her career, which in and of itself is quite an accomplishment. Shailene began her film career performing in TV shows and commercials. Later, she played important roles in Hollywood films.
